The Exo Terra® Aztec Calendar Stone Hide-out fits the ancient Pre-Columbian Aztec theme. The Aztec Calendar Stone or “Stone of the sun” is not your usual calendar, but rather shows a road map of the Aztecs destiny. Symbols on the stone tell about both the beginning and end of the world. In the centre of the stone they carved the face of their most important god: Tonatiuh God of the Sun. According to the Aztecs, 4 worlds preceded their current world. The four squares surrounding the sun god represent the destruction of the previous worlds by jaguars, hurricanes, volcanic fires and torrential rains. The Calendar Stone Hide-out ensures that your animals have a secure hiding place that will support thermo-regulation and hydration.
A proper hiding area is an essential feature of a natural terrarium. Without a safe spot to hide and sleep reptiles and amphibians will easily develop stress that will affect their activity and appetite. By adding Exo Terra’s Forest Moss you can create a slightly moist microclimate, ideal for reptiles and amphibians to soak up moisture via their skin and aid the natural shedding process. The moist moss will also facilitate egg laying.
